The Role 

Endeavour is seeking three new Board members to serve a three-year renewable term beginning in May
2026, bringing expertise to help guide our strategic direction and drive growth and impact.

Are you ready to make a transformative difference at an impact-driven nonprofit? In this board-level
role, you will work closely with the Board Chair and fellow Board members to provide strategic oversight, strengthen governance, and guide Endeavour in achieving its mission. You will also engage with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to support key decisions, uphold accountability, and shape strategic direction.

Responsibilities

As a Board member, you will be required to:

  • Uphold and champion the vision, mission, and values of Endeavour.
  • Attend quarterly Board meetings and the Annual General Meeting in Toronto.
  • Advise on strategic direction, organizational goals, and key policies.
  • Provide board-level oversight of financial, governance, and risk matters.
  • Serve on at least one Board committee, such as Finance, Governance, or Strategy.
  • Act as an ambassador for Endeavour and support fundraising initiatives.
  • Provide guidance or mentorship to the Senior Leadership Team as appropriate.
  • Stay informed about trends and best practices in nonprofit governance and the sector.
  • Leverage your network to advance Endeavour’s mission and impact.

 

Time Commitment
Board members are expected to dedicate approximately 5 hours per month. There are currently four
regular Board of Directors meetings each year, typically held on weekday evenings for 1.5–2 hours.

 

Qualifications

Comprising professionals from the nonprofit, private, and public sectors, Endeavour’s Board leverages
diverse expertise to advance the organization’s mission. We are currently seeking a Board member with
strong Canadian financial credentials to assume the role of Treasurer and Chair of the Finance
Committee.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Excited and motivated to make a difference for the nonprofit community.
  • Understanding of Board governance concepts and fiduciary responsibilities.
  • Financial literacy with the ability to interpret financial statements and budgets.
  • Experience with financial oversight, risk management, and internal control.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Canadian professional accounting designation (CPA preferred).
  • Experience in financial management, audit, accounting, or financial leadership within a Canadian
    organization.
  • Experience serving as Treasurer, Finance Chair, or a similar role on a Board of Directors.
  • Familiarity with Canadian charity and nonprofit financial regulations, CRA reporting, and
    compliance.
  • Experience working with external auditors and overseeing annual audit processes.
  • Ability to present financial information clearly to non-financial Board members.

Other Board Member Opportunities:

  • We are also seeking Board members with experience in charity and not-for-profit organizations,
    particularly in the areas of Legal, Compliance, and Governance.
