Evaluation Associate


The Research and Evaluation Associate will provide support to the Director of Evaluation. The goal of the Research and Evaluation unit is to measure and improve Endeavour’s impact with nonprofit clients, volunteers and partners. To achieve that goal, the unit is responsible for developing an evaluation plan, coordinating and conducting data collection activities, reporting on performance, and facilitating use of findings by Endeavour and external stakeholders. The unit is also responsible for conducting various applied research projects to address arising organizational needs.


As a Research and Evaluation Associate, you will be working with the Director of Evaluation. Your tasks may include:

  • Contributing to evaluation planning
  • Drafting/revising data collection tools
  • Collecting qualitative (e.g. interviews) and quantitative (e.g. closed-ended survey questions) data from nonprofit management and Endeavour volunteers
  • Conducting literature reviews
  • Analyzing data and providing recommendations
  • Writing results/research summaries and preparing presentations
  • Assisting in presenting results
  • Attending meetings



  • University degree in the social sciences or management (e.g. sociology, psychology, nonprofit management, business, etc.) and completion of a course in evaluation, or performance measurement
  • Experience collecting primary data (both qualitative and quantitative is preferred)
  • Experience analyzing data (both qualitative and quantitative is preferred)
  • Experience in writing literature reviews
  • Experience collaborating and delivering results in a virtual work environment (e.g. Google documents, Google pools/surveys, Skype meetings, etc.)
  • Availability to attend meetings in Toronto
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Great organizational and time management skills


  • Preference for individual looking to begin a career in evaluation/performance measurement or is early in that career (e.g. less than 2 years experience)
  • Membership in an evaluation society
  • Consulting experience
  • Experience working with small nonprofits
  • Experience using QuestionPro
